The Akkuyu nuclear power plant is under construction in southern Turkey, on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea. The site is located 6 km southwest of the village of Büyükeceli in the Gülnar district of the Turkish province of Mersin.
Since April 2015, the Russian supplier Rosatom has been building a first VVER-type pressurized water nuclear reactor there with a unit capacity of 1200 MW, as part of a contract for four reactors worth 20 billion dollars. The commissioning has been postponed to 2023 (at the earliest), if this reactor meets all the obligations and conditions of the Turkish Atomic Energy Authority.
BAUMERT was selected for the design, certification and manufacture of 493 doors with high technical requirements (sealing, fire resistance, etc.) but also for the supervision of the installation on site.
Baumert won this contract in the face of competition exclusively composed of Russian competitors. This project is an opportunity for Baumert, as it will allow us to position ourselves on future VVER technology projects.
